Day 249 of 365

I am not and Island.

And neither is the destination of today's adventure even though it is called Bainbridge Island.

After 249 days I finally had an island/non-island adventure by ferry boat.

This day was jam packed with firsts. I walked uphill both ways. In Seattle it is completely possible to walk from one end of the city and back again and hit hills in every direction. I've been experiencing this for the last four days and I find it exhausting.

Why did I go to Bainbridge island?

Vodka, Whiskey & Gin

Oh yeah!

I arrived on the island and made my way to the distillery on foot. I had no idea what the walk would be like and that's a good thing. I just couldn't have planned a more amazing trek. The Bainbridge Organic Distillery is located right beside a brewery, winery and a bakery. I did a 50/50 and hit two of the four.

My first stop, the Organic distillery. I had my first taste of Gin and it was something pretty special. The

tour was short but our guide was eager to share her enthusiasm for the company. She likes her gin too. I sampled all four of their products but I have to say that the "Oaked" Doug Fir Gin was a flavor I've never experienced before. I don't know if people sip gin but I do.

The rest of the afternoon is a bit fuzzy from gin, vodka and whiskey sampling but I know that it involved a bakery and the most delicious blueberry fritter I've ever eaten in my 49 years.

If you're ever in Seattle and want to take a ferry to Bainbridge Island, and walk two miles uphill to a wonderful distillery. Go to Bainbridge organic distillery. Just go and see Erin and take her tour and have the sample of the OAKED gin. You won't regret it. Nope, not one bit.
